Electric Bicycles: Tonaro Compy Electric Bicycle Assessment

by S.G.R.B

Do you recall how free and open it felt when you were a kid and you were flying down the street on your bike on a mild summer day? While we have gone beyond those basic types of bicycles, scores of us can’t get use to the noise and air pollution which these fossil fuel burning motor vehicles emit. When you reflect on the different selections available, you have probably abandoned the ordinary bike due to various reasons, and one of the most imperative ones is that you could reach your destination, such as work, feeling really clammy and completely bushed. If the idea of the small carbon footprint of a bicycle appeals to you, but the endless pedalling doesn’t, then you should take a serious look at electric bicycles such as the Tonaro Compy.

Electric Bicycles: Chief Aspects of the Tonaro Compy

Selling for close to £1000, the Tonaro Compy, comes with 3 operating modes – manual, power assisted and fully motorised riding. As a result, you can take pleasure in both aspects – the ideal exercise that bike riding gives you, along with the use of a power motor whenever you prefer, like traversing hilly terrain. The original patented crank drive system furnished over double the torque of a hub mounted motor. The frame is constructed out of a sturdy lightweight aluminium alloy containing a Zoom adaptable suspension. The wheel diameter measures 26” (66cm). The bike is incorporated with front and rear disc brakes for protection stopping. Its gearing is Shimano Acera 8-speed.

Electric Bicycles: More On the Tonaro Compy

The Tonaro bike includes a durable 36V 10Ah lithium battery which operates a 36V 200W brushless motor. The battery will recharge in 4 – 6 hours and the bike proceeds for close to 30 to 40kn with a charge. The bicycle motor is suitably bracket mounted. The full drive system is enclosed within the pedal cranking system, meaning there aren’t any wires going to the front or the rear wheel coming from a centre motor mount. The Compy is built with front suspension and also superior Shimano gearing. Electric bicycles such as this many times include 3 running modes. With the first, a person pedals with no assistance at all—like with a customary bicycle. In the bike’s second mode, which is pedal assist, the motor of the bicycle assists with the pedalling motion of the rider in order to augment speed. The cycle’s third mode is full motorised mode—the motor moves the bicycle with no pedalling from the rider.

Electric Bicycles: Ending Views Concerning the Tonaro Compy

The revolutionary motor design is the thing that discerns this particular electric bike from others of its kind. Unlike hub mounted motors, there is zero drag or resistance when the power is switched off, enabling riders to pedal effortlessly and comfortably, effectively increasing the bike’s range. Moreover, bikers don’t have to put up with any slacking of traction which is commonplace in front wheel centre mounted motors, to boot, the Tonaro Compy is more balanced than cycles which have rear wheel centre motors. Finally, the motor is virtually silent, and the entire drive system is maintenance free.

Electric bicycles such as the Tonaro Compy are completely turning around our idea of bike riding.

A Guide To Professional Cycling

by S.G.R.B

Although it is true not that not all cyclists can become as good as Lance Armstrong, there is nothing wrong with wanting to know more about professional cycling. If you love cycling whether as a recreational activity or sport, then perhaps you might be interested in becoming a professional or simply want to know more about it. The following is a general overview of what it takes to make it into professional cycling.

In order for you to enter the world of professional cycling, you should devote a lot of time to cycling. All professionals have a training regimen that they live by. While riding a bike in general is a simply activity, excelling it at to an extent where you can handle long courses and compete with the best is a whole other story. You must train well.

Professional cycling is already incorporated in the lives of these professional cyclists. Their diet is limited to healthy foods so that they will have the energy to ride their bikes. Although each cyclist’s diet may vary, one thing remains the same. They should remain well hydrated at all times. They also go through different exercise routines so that they can keep their body in tip top shape. Although cycling is already a workout itself, these cyclists still have to do other workout regimens so that they will be able to perform better.

It is also good to invest in top of the line cycling gear if you want to be a part of the professional cycling industry. For instance, using the simple computers that come with most bikes or are sold separately is not enough. Instead, you will have to get the more advanced ones that provide much more information besides just speed and distances.

While having the ability to be a professional cyclist is of utmost importance, having the right bike is every bit as important. The cycling bike should not only fit you perfectly, but also must handle the vigors of competition. It should be able to withstand long bike ride sessions and rocky slopes. A great bike is one that feels like it’s a part of you while riding.

The Giro Monza Cycling Helmet Reviewed

by S.G.R.B

The Giro Monza is yet another great helmet in the Giro range that is pitched at a price level, together with cutting-edge technology, that is going to appeal to any self-respecting cyclist. It carries many of the same features as its cousin the Giro Saros, but in terms of styling it’s definitely sharper and racier. Although drawn from the world of road racing, the style would definitely not look out of place around town.

It’s possibly the case that some people new to the world of cycling feel that they do not need a helmet – “I only ride a little, I don’t need one”. However, the possibility of accident is always present, especially for the inexperienced. It’s our view that wearing a helmet is always strongly to be advised. Why choose a Monza?

The helmet is manufactured using advanced in-mould techniques. In this process the hard polycarbonate outer shell is bonded to the inner polystyrene body in one procedure, inside the mould. This allows for control of the weight, while allowing extra reinforcement of the area around the vents and the ribs for increased impact resistance.

Consequently, 24 large vents and internal ventilation channels can be designed in, maximising the cooling airflow. So it is no surprise that the efficient cooling is often commented on by users of the helmet. The Monza weighs only 256 grams, so is very comfortable to wear.

There’s a small criticism quoted by some, that the front vents do not have netting, as some models do, to keep out insects.

The Monza is available in 3 sizes – . Fine adjustment to the fit is by applying the Coolmax adhesive pads and by the use of the RocLoc system. This is basically a dial at the rear of the helmet which tightens the internal straps to a good fit. So you can put on a hat in cold weather without having to take out and put back in the pads.

The helmet comes in four smart colours; blue, black, white and titanium.

The Giro Monza is in accordance with CE EN1078 standards, so you can rest assured of the best protection.

If you are an enthusiast for road cycling, the Monza is a helmet designed for you. But for fast street riding on the commute to work, it’s excellent as well.  The helmet is a top performer, is smart and comfortable to wear. It will suit everyone.

Tips For Finding The Right Cycling Bicycle

by S.G.R.B

There is no shortage of reasons for choosing to cycle. There are many that decide to ride bicycles because they are able to save a ton of money on both the price of gas and maintenance costs. Some are ‘going green’ and taking an active part in trying to help our environment by choosing to ride a bike over a car.

And there are some who like to cycle simply because it is fun. Whatever your reason for going cycle shopping there are some definite criteria that you need to think about before you make your choice. You will be surprised at how much more there is to a bicycle than just the looks. Here are some helpful tips that you can use to help you decide which bicycle you should buy.

You want to first and foremost, ensure that you are able to come to a stop on your bicycle, and the key to that is selecting a bicycle that allows you to rest your feet flat on the ground, when you are sitting on the seat. There are some people that say this isn’t the best way to choose, though. These people explain that the best way to pick a bike is to ensure there is a few inches between the ground and your feet, and you will be provided with a much more comfortable ride. You will likely find that the seat will rest too near the crossbar, if, when you sit on the seat, your knees are bent with your feet flat on the ground, which is an indication that the seat needs to be raised. If this is happening, when you start to pedal the bike then your knees are going to come up too high. Which handlebars to go with is also a serious decision. As you probably know, there are many different types of handlebars. Traditional handlebars that just go straight out are good for maneuvering over difficult terrain. These handlebars will also distribute your weight over a big area. If you are going to be racing, however, you’ll want handlebars that are slimmer and that force you to lean forward to create a more streamlined effect, which can help you go faster on the road. For those people who rarely use their bikes you can get away with just selecting comfortable handlebars that can be stored away easily.

How many gears will you use on a regular basis? Traveling through flat areas requires far less gears than riding in a mountainous area. Many beginning cyclists think that the more gears a bicycle has, the better it is. The truth is that you might not need all of those different gears. Why spend extra money paying for something that you don’t need? If your bike is going to be the main means of travel for you, you absolutely must get the number of gears you need for the situations in which you’ll ride.

When purchasing a bicycle, you have tons to consider. From how safe the bicycle is to what it looks like, there are lots of choices to make. It’s perfectly normal for you to feel a little overwhelmed and perhaps a little perplexed when starting out. You can rest assured that by doing minimal research into your options, you’ll make the perfect decision for you.

Take your time to learn about your options before you shop. The peace it will offer during shopping makes it very worthwhile.About The Author :

When You’re Thinking About Mountain Bike Pedals You May Want To Consider ‘Leaping’ Pedals

by S.G.R.B

There’s even a style for jumping dead animals. There are limitations with that as well.

There are some problems pedals have to lick. They have to drop mud, they have to have a sturdy platform, and they can’t weigh too much.

Forget About cage pedals, they’re worthless, the other 2 types are what you’re searching for.

Only cheapster bicycles have cage pedals, so they can be discounted from consideration.

You’ll Do OK With Platform Pedals

Platform stability is where this type stands out.

It’s a style that a lot of freestylers and downhillers are fond of. Undoubtedly, downhillers aren’t doing a lot of uphilling so they don’t need the extra force and efficiency that a clipless pedal provides to the pedal stroke.

For the rest of us who have to go uphill a mess of the time, the platform pedal sacrifices efficiency. You can find platform pedals that weigh in the low 400 gram range, but weight is relative-I’m used to seeing road pedals in the 200 gram range.

Do platform pedals shed mud easily? If sticky mud is a regular part of your riding, you’d better get an open design type of platform pedals.

A different advantage with platform pedals is that they don’t take ‘funny looking’ shoes, like nike cycling shoes. Whether mens or womens cycling shoes, they aren’t needed with platform pedals.

Mountain Bike Pedals Come In Clipless As Well

If you make the proper choice, you can get some clipless pedals that lick the three mountain bike pedal problems laudably. You recall them, don’t you-supplying a steady platform, shedding muck, and being passably light.

Weight’s the easiest one. A lot of clipless pedals don’t even weigh 9 ounces. 250 grams is 8.81 ounces.

The Eggbeater

With these, stability may or may not be provided. If you go with a hard-and-fast Crank Brothers eggbeater there is no platform, so I imagine they don’t enter into this one-sided discussion. But a number of models integrate a platform into them.

Crank Brother pedals do very well at sloughing mud. You won’t have very much of a problem clipping into Crank Brother pedals since they’re four sided, so muck won’t be as great of a problem.

Speedplay Pedals Are The Lightest On The Market

Speedplay pedals are just about as lightweight as you’re going to find anywhere. These pedals won’t accumulate mud since they’re recessed into the pedal. Although they don’t have a firm platform, they’re stable as they almost become part of the shoe.

And Then There’s The Leaping Over Roadkill Issue!

By using clipless pedals, you have the ability to pull your back wheel up and over items in the trail, like logs. Or carcasses on the side of the roadway.

One guy I ride with bunnyhops his bike o’er dead animals every chance he gets. He does everything he can to actually aim at them. Getting back to the number one question… Clipless pedals are the ones that help you get over roadkill.

He told me that one time he attempted to get over a small dead elk (unsuccessfully). In the Pacific Northwest where he lives that’s the kind of thing that can happen. Those are the kind of mishaps that don’t even make the newspapers.
