On January 2nd client Marc de Speville was on board the Nice n’ Tight and had a field day, catching four 10lbs. Black tunas and a 30lbs. Dorado. Then on January 4th client Matthew Rempel stayed right on the tail end of the Dorado bite. At the end of a half-day fishing they had caught two nice Dorado, one 30lbs. and the other a whopping 45lbs.
With the Marlin Bite in full force, client Linda booked the Wanderer on January 15th and was at the reel for a double Marlin release: A 200lbs. Black Marlin and a 250lbs. Blue Marlin! She went looking for the grand slam, but was satisfied enough with the two big boys and a 20lbs. Dorado. It was a great day for the boat, client, and crew!

Longtime friend and client Scott D’Arrigo joined Craig Sutton and the crew of theWanderer for a very memorable day of fishing on January 30th. With Craig in command of the cockpit and Scotty on the reel they pulled in this massive Sailfish…Craig brought the big fella into the boat himself, a first time for him with a Pacific Sailfish.
On January 25th, 26th, and 27th the Wanderer was honored to welcome Captain Kevin Faver, his wife Carrie, and the crew of The Outdoors Show for a few days of fishing and filming. Kevin and Carrie repeated last year’s success by catching four Dorados and releasing seven Sailfish. Also Kevin released one of the nicest Rooster Fish of the year so far.
On February 8th client Kristen O’Connell booked a three hours sunset cruise and we are happy to report that she caught five nice-sized Black Tunas. Her party also enjoyed swimming around Playa Rosada. Remember that all FishingNosara boats can be used for snorkeling, surfing, and sightseeing trips as well as fishing. Captain Eduardo reports that clients Paul and Susan had a HUGE day on the Sportsman on March 17th. They nabbed a few nice Black tunas, a 45lbs. Amberjack, and released two magnificent 130lbs. Sailfish.
Client Vanessa Mazandi and her friends had a great trip catching two Yellowtail snappers, an Amberjack, and a Yellowfin tuna. Although these fellas weren’t tipping the scales, they are a load of fun to catch and still make for some great sushi! “It was definitely a great trip!” said Vanessa.

In late March Captain Eduardo took the Sailfish to school, raising fourteen of them and getting four all the way to the boat for the release. Watch out fish! Eduardo’s in town. April 7th brought a massive catch for client Tom who fished on board the Nice n’ Tight and released a nice Sailfish in the 80lbs. range. Captain Eduardo then hunted the reefs for some Yellowfin tuna, and Tom was burying the hooks and bending rods to the tune of twenty-five fish! Captain Eduardo made certain that Tom had a great day!
Captain Vibert Blanche took the brunt of the slow early March, but he has been picking it up in April and has kept steady with some great nature tours. On March 26th Stephanie Kawalik took a great Nature Tour. They saw more than 20 nice dolphins with different colors. Also, they got some pictures of a baleen (that’s Whale in Gringo) and a couple sea turtles.
On March 22nd, Jim Bridges and his party really captured the flag this month with a ridiculous FIVE Sailfish released in a single day, including the infamous Double Bill Shot. Great work Captain William and mates Alex and David for coming up with the idea for the picture, and then having the guts to hold onto these powerful Sailfish.

Captain Eduardo has been fishing like a madman in the last month, and he has theNice n’ Tight back on top of the leaderboard. He’s had a great mix of sunset cruises, nature tours, and flat-out billfish hunting…the common thread? Lots and lots of smiling clients. On April 19th Captain Eduardo welcomed Jacksonville client Van Evans and his girlfriend for the first of two days fishing. Van owns a great little seafood restaurant in Florida and is no stranger to some great looking fish. Their first sunset cruise netted them a nice macarella and a ponpano. A few days later they had another awesome sunset cruise catching a delightful white tuna and a beautiful amberjack.
That same morning clients Crissy, Rich, and Robert caught five nice white tunas in just a few hours fishing. Captain Eduardo knows how to stay on the fish, evidenced by two trips on the same day catching the same species fish. His experience on these waters give him the competitive edge.
Captain Eduardo stayed busy with another booking on April 26th with clients Bruce and Dwyane. The rods were bending all day long and the boys came home with a 12lbs. yellowfin tuna, a 15lbs dorado and several black tunas. Great action all day long is what the Nice n’ Tight is all about.

Client Daniel Fero also had an action packed day on May 4th, albeit with limited results. He got some dinner in the form of a big Yellowfin tuna, but lost a pair a Cadillac-sized snappers on the bottom. Likewise for client Bobby Leesman on May 10th, who fished a full day on came away with a 30lbs. Yellowfin tuna. He also has action throughout the day, but the fish were tough to catch.

One of our favorite clients Ivan de Luca and his son Tomas were on the Cabo for several fun filled days, catching nearly one of every species in the ocean. Unfortunately the biggest Marlin they had hooked up broke the leader right at the boat, but that’s how it goes when fighting the mightiest fish in the sea. From the inshore reefs to offshore trolling, Captain Vibert knows how to get the job done.
The 31′ Wanderer has built quite a reputation in the six short month she’s been in service as the dominant billfish hunter in the area. This month Captain William and mates Alex and David had some phenomenal billfish releases and also put clients on a wide variety of other fish. One of my best friends Jacksonville angler Chetri Dimitroff was aboard the Wanderer on May 28th and caught his first ever Pacific Blue Marlin. The fight lasted seventeen minutes and ended with a safe live release. Chetri represents FishingNosara at fishing tournaments around Florida; last year he placed in the Kingbuster 400. This trip, Chetri and his posse had an awesome time and caught nice tattooed sunburns.
After the Hurricane blew through, Lian Thomas and her group had an action packed trip on June 6th. They boated nine 15-20lbs. Yellowfin Tuna and raised four Marlin. Client Mike Kelley booked a pair of trips on the Wanderer on June 7th-8th and he enjoyed bending rods the whole time. He got a few nice Yellowfin Tuna and released a 100+lbs. Sailfish.
June 10th was a chance for the staff of Nosara Paradise Rentals to get out on the water and do a little ‘research’ for the company. General Manager Javier Hernandez, Concierge Manuel DeCampos, and Chief Groundskeeper Grevin Hernandez had great success on a three-hour sunset cruise. They caught seven 20lbs. Yellowfin tunas, a 15lbs. Ponpano, a 12lbs. Amberjack, and a 12lbs. Rainbow runner. Our staff is the best in the business and they can fish!
Another great angler and Jacksonville client Buddy Cherry filled up his refrigerator on June 15th by catching four 15-25lbs. Yellowfin tunas. These reef dwellers are as tasty as they are fun to catch. They are feisty and will fight all the way to the boat. Fortunately the North Florida anglers get plenty of practice with a wide variety of species and Mr. Cherry and his group were all over these tasty Yellowfin tunas.
Fishing after dark makes for an interesting time. People have been known to catch just as many, if not more fish after dark. The trouble people have with fishing in the dark is that they cannot see nearly as well as they can during the daylight hours. Many people feel that if they use a flashlight or lantern too close to the water, they will lower the odds of them hooked a fish. Fish and other lake side animals can be frightened by the unusual presence of a light at night.
The fact is however that if you cannot see because you don’t have any light, you may end up getting injured. You don’t want to fall over a log or rock while carrying all of your fishing gear. You’ll find that hooks and knives can be painful to fall on. To alleviate this problem, you could get yourself a nice pair of night vision goggles to wear. These goggles will help you see with perfect clarity even in the dark. You’ll be able to leave your flashlights and lanterns at home and the fish will never know your there.
If you don’t want want to get night vision equipment, there are some precautions you will need to take before venturing out. Always make sure that you scout out your night time fishing area during the day. Scouting the area the day of your night time fishing event will give you the chance to look out for any hazards. You’ll find that hazards are easier to spot when you have the full power of the sun illuminating them. Hazards can be moved or at least noted so that you can avoid them on your way down at night.
Another great tip is to get your gear ready in advance. When you get your gear ready during the day, your night time adventure becomes easier and more enjoyable. Get your rods and tackle ready as well as your lighting equipment. Purchase any live bait before it starts to get dark out. This will ensure that the bait shop doesn’t close early on you.
