How to Choose Home Fitness Gym Equipment

by S.G.R.B

One of the biggest advantages to buying a home fitness gym is that you can exercise at home without having to go to a club. If you are uncomfortable exercising with other people you can workout in private, at home. Consider a few points before you purchase your gym so that you choose wisely.

Things to Take into Consideration

  • do you have enough room in your home? Make sure that you have enough space and a firm place for your home fitness gym to stand.
  • What is your budget? You can pay as little as $500 to as much as $5000 for a top quality, comprehensive, multi station home gym.
  • Which type of system do you want? Free weights or resistance using built in weights, cables or rods?

Advantages and Disadvantages of Home Fitness Gyms

With a home gym you can, of course, work out in private in your own home, the gym is always available and you won’t have to wait until someone else finishes before you can do your training. There won’t be gym fees to pay every month and your home gym is available whenever you want to work out. You should also take into account the disadvantages. A home gym is going to take up a lot of space and may be hard to set up initially. It may be easier to stay motivated at a gym, among other people or with a trainer than at home!

Choosing a Home Fitness Gym

The most important consideration, in our opinion, is how well made the unit is. It will do you no good if you buy a cheap, badly made gym that will fall apart soon and provide a poor workout. Over time this won’t be money saving. You should be looking for a well constructed sturdy gym preferably made from 11 or 12 gauge steel. Heavy duty steel tubing and welded joints, in preference to bolts, are found in the better quality gyms. A minimum warranty should be for 3 years on upholstery and parts. Many of the more expensive, higher quality gyms have lifetime warranties.

If you have found a quality home gym at a good price now make sure it is easy to use and adjust for different exercises. You will want to find a gym that makes it easy to change both the type of exercise and the resistance. If it takes too long or is too hard it is easy to allow this to put you off working out. You also need a home fitness gym that is comfortable to use with seats that are well padded and that can be easily cleaned. This is not just for convenience but for safety, as well padded and durable handgrips and leg presses can prevent blisters and injuries.

Conclusion

Do not rush into buying the first home gym exercise equipment you see. If possible try out your chosen gym at the store or a local gym and find out as much about how it works as you can. Take your time as this is quite a large investment and you don’t want to regret your purchase later.

ChinUp Home Exercise Plan

22 Pull-ups with Perfect Form

Did you know that you can carry out more than a normal Chin-Up with your Chin Up Bar? This will mean you can get more use out of your Chin Up bar, training a greater number of muscle groups and giving you a far better overall toned an muscular look.

Chin Up

Chin ups should be carried out by griping the ChinUp Bar with palms facing inwards (this is called a supinated grip). You should pull yourself up until your chin is raised above the bar, prefrebly until you can touch the bar with your upper chest. If you can’t do this at first you can try out negative chin ups where you use a chair to put yourself in the completed position and lower yourself down. You can do assisted chin ups; where a pilates band, step or training partnet helps you with the last small push to the top.  Finally you could try kip chin ups; where a swaying of the lower body can be used to assist you in the motion. Once you can do chin ups you can start adding weight to make the exercise more difficult.

Muscles: Latissimus dorsi

Pull Ups

Pull ups should be completed in an identical way as chin ups however with the hands facing away from you (pronated grip). By modifying your hand position, and the movements this restricts you to less emphasis is placed on utilising the bicep muscles which will force the other muscle groups to be exercised more.

Muscles: Latissimus dorsi

Hanging Leg Raises

Leg raises are completed by hanging from the Chin Up bar and bringing up the lower body up in a straight line to make an L shape or 90 degree angle.

Muscles Used: Stomach Muscles

Incline Press Ups

We all know that a press up is a poor man’s bench press, but when don’t have time to get to the gym a push up is better than chest workout.

With some of the next generation over the door Chin-Up bars such as the P90X Chin Up Bar these can be lay on the floor and the bar used for conducting incline press ups, instead of just doing standard press ups. By conducting the exercise on an incline greater focus is placed on the upper pectoral muscles which will give a fuller and better look throughout the body instead of just focusing on the lower pec muscles.

Targets: Chest Muscles

Decline Press Ups

In an identical way as you have just used the bar to carry out incline push ups you can also put your feet on the bar to perform decline press ups; which will focus on the lower chest area instead of the upper.

Options For A Home Fitness Gym

by S.G.R.B

Today’s fitness gym is a far cry from the older work out facilities from years ago. Never before have you had the ability to choose from so many different options in this particular realm. One consideration that you want to make is whether you want to visit a fitness gym on site or whether you want to build one of your own in your home.

The home fitness gym is a concept that has been developing over the years. There are literally thousands of different option that you can order online and have delivered direct to your door and installed in a few short days. You can easily be well on your way to a healthier lifestyle with your home fitness gym.

But is the home the right place for your specific needs? There are social and motivation advantages that some people enjoy when visiting local gyms. The first is motivation. I love to meet with my friends for a long workout at the gym followed by a quick swim. I like having a membership to a fitness gym for the social aspects but there are other benefits as well.

I would love to have a fitness gym in my own home, filled with my favorite workout equipment. However, in my small house the floor space has limited my options. I just can’t fit everything I need into the little room that I have. I’m lucky that I can fit my clothes in my apartment.

The space issue is a considerable factor in my case but others may have plenty of room to spare. The home fitness gym is the perfect option for anyone who wants to get in a quick workout in as little time as possible. Consider how much time you will save traveling to the local fitness gym if you have one already set up in your own home.

Then there is the cost of membership. Sure, buying gym equipment online for your home gym will cost a pretty penny. If you don’t have the cash to spare, then you may want to opt for a more affordable option, a membership to a local fitness gym. You have your choice of many different pieces of equipment and the fees are usually pretty easy on the wallet.

Still wondering which way to go when it comes to choosing between a home workout space and a membership to a local fitness gym? Try looking online for more information on your options. Who knows? You may find that your very own fitness gym is closer than you think.
