Alcohol & Gaining Muscle – The Top 5 Ways That Alcohol Can Affect Muscle Growth

by S.G.R.B

Many people wonder if drinking alcohol can affect muscle growth. The answer is yes!

No, this will not be an anti alcohol speech. I’m definitely not against alcohol. I enjoy a few drinks myself sometimes.

But, if you’re on a muscle building program, drinking too much alcohol will definitely have a negative impact on your efforts.

Here are 5 ways that excessive drinking can slow your muscle gains…

#1 It Slows Protein Synthesis

Amino acids have to band together to form proteins. This is called protein synthesis. Drinking large amounts of alcohol can slow this process down by about 20%.

Your muscles are mostly water and protein, so you see how this might be a problem!

#2 It Drops Your Testosterone Levels

If you want to gain muscle, testosterone is your best friend!

#3 It Dehydrates You

To break down the alcohol, your kidneys have to filter large quantities of water. This can cause major dehydration

Your muscles are about 70% water, so even slight dehydration is a problem.

#4 It Depletes Your Body Of Vitamins And Minerals

Excessive drinking causes vitamins A, C, B, calcium, and other minerals to be drained at fast rates.

This affects many things within your body, including the growth of muscle mass.

#5 It Causes Fat Storage

Alcohol can also be fattening. For one thing, the calories are empty and contain no nutritional value. Two, alcohol interferes with the Krebs Cycle. The Krebs Cycle plays a role in fat burning processes. Gaining body fat means your muscle will be covered up.

If you want to build muscle fast, monitor your alcohol intake and drink in moderation.

Drinking alcohol sometimes won’t stop you from building muscle. If you get drunk every weekend, do realize that it’s going to slow down your muscle gaining ability.

Before you start drinking, have a lot of water, take some extra vitamins and minerals and eat a meal high in protein.

Mike Geary’s Truth About Abs Review

by S.G.R.B

There are so many workout programs and different machines available to help you get ripped abs, that they are way too difficult to keep track of. It seems that every time you log on to the Internet or turn on the television, someone is trying to sell you the next great thing that will help you get a flat stomach in no time at all. In this truth about abs review, I will show that this program is not a gimmick or a scam. In this program, the creator actually crushes the myth that the only way to six pack abs is through the latest machine. This program includes twenty different ab exercises to strengthen and tone the midsection.

A very important ingredient of any goos workout plan is the diet which goes hand in hand with the workout routines. In the case of this Truth About Abs review, that portion of the program was more than acceptable. There are many different meal plans available to you in this program. This way there is a lot less guessing of what foods you should eat to get a flat stomach. There are also many nutrition tips that can help people decide what they should eat if they are going out or even what they can eat on a daily basis for each meal. There is a great variety of meal plans you can find, so there shouldn’t be a problem to find something you’d like to eat.

In other programs you may find that the program focuses only on abs workout, and this is not the case here. Alternativly, in this program you will do wholw body workouts. This is really the way to get a flatter, stronger abdominal section because your muscles are worked out in a more natural way rather than just doing crunches. Within the total body workouts, there are specific exercises that focus on the midsection. This is also a factor in my review of this program and why it’s so positive.

The final thing about this program that makes it stand out in the crowd is the fact that it was written and created by a professional trainer that has actually put the exercises and diet programs into practice. In most of the Truth About Abs review articles that have been published, this fact has been very important to people. It’s vitally important that you have faith in the creator of the program. The creator of the program also provides a lot of support to the customers if they have questions.

Different Bodybuilding And Fitness Clothes

by S.G.R.B

If people can think back to being in high school they might remember gym class or if they played sports they remember the weight room.  Back at those times, nobody was looking for a particular brand or style of clothing.  Most guys wore a t-shirt and shorts.  There weren’t any bodybuilding and fitness clothes.

People wore what was comfortable.  If they wore anything even close to bodybuilding and fitness clothes, they wore the school colors or a school sports jersey.Other than that, clothes were just clothes.  People who workout now must have certain clothing that maybe makes them look younger or something that shows off all of their muscles.

One company that provides bodybuilding and fitness clothes is Physique Body Wear.  They offer clothing for men and women including workout pants and shorts and large workout shirts and tank top shirts also.Along with all of the clothing they also have clearance clothes or discontinued clothing.

Even with those who will buy clothes to bodybuilding workout in, they still cost money and they don’t put any muscle on a persons frame.  That must be done by the individual.  Some people wear them because someone else is wearing the same thing.  The followers want to fit in and will do whatever it takes to keep their profile higher than others.

Other Reasons For Bodybuilding And Fitness Clothes

There will always be some people who are vain and treat their bodies like it’s a work of art and everyone should be wowed by the experience of being near them.  The bodybuilding and fitness clothes make sure that they look good.  That is their entire goal.  Looking good so people will like them and they won’t feel alone.

Some women will wear bodybuilding and fitness clothes when they work out but they aren’t usually trying to prove a point. They aren’t trying to impress everyone in the gym.  They will of course attract most of the people in attendance working out.

Finally, there isn’t anything wrong about msucle building workout clothes.  Worn by the right people they look great and will attract attention.  Others come down on using bodybuilding and fitness clothes, but if the truth be known, they would also wear them as well as long as they have the right physique.  If a person looks good and it makes them feel a little better about themselves, they should do it.  But if they don’t fit right because of a beer belly or other reason, wearing them will draw attention, the wrong type of attention.

Taking Muscle Building Drugs

by S.G.R.B

When most people think about bodybuilding exercise drugs they automatically think about steroids. The western world has demonized steroids to the point that even talking about them will get other peoples attention.  Everything that people ingest into their bodies has an effect from sugar to high fats and fatty oils.  These can also kill people but people still use them.  Bodybuilding drugs are always going to be around and used.

This is not to compare directly with fatty foods but it shows that some substances that are dangerous are still wanted by people. While it is very hard to legally get steroids for bodybuilding, anyone can go out and buy their favorite food that will also kill them.  Why is one thing unlimited to the point that a person can buy as much as they want but steroid use will put people in prison for years?

The system might not seem equitable but it’s still the system and it probably won’t be changed anytime soon.  Why do people take bodybuilding drugs when they are illegal?  Many people who are into bodybuilding workout program treat it as part of their life and not a hobby or something else.

At the very top levels of the sport are some very big guys that can stay ripped and seem to have more muscle than anyone should be able to find.  Bodybuilding drugs are the answer for some.  Most will deny any use of steroids and there isn’t a way to know for sure unless a blood or urine sample is given.

Other Arguments For Bodybuilding Drugs

When people get hurt like in the lower back and the muscle doesn’t heal quickly enough, the doctor will give out steroids that are taken for a certain cycle.  If anyone knows someone who has MS they will also know that the doctor will prescribe steroids to help a person recover faster.

The person who bodybuilds for a living can’t get steroids from a physician even if they have been injured during a work out.The difference is in the public perception of the different situations.  There are many things in this country that are just plain weird but nobody can make a change now because it would be all over the media that steroids are now legal again.

Bodybuilding drugs can be dangerous especially when taken at doses way to high for an extended time.  But there should be a place for them in the msucle building workout world.  The reason they are banned isn’t because they can harm, the reason is because people will always abuse the drugs.

Bodyweight Bodybuilding Provides Results Far Superior To What Muscle Building Equipment Can Give

by S.G.R.B

A visit to a bodybuilding gym will reveal many items of bodybuilding exercise equipment with people sweating away at each particular item that is the latest in bodybuilding equipment where you can tone, sculpt as well as carve your body to achieve perfection. But, you should wonder whether this is indeed the most desirable course of action since you can choose to have a bodyweight bodybuilding program instead.

Your Body Is The Best Equipment For Building Your Body

The body is your best muscle building workout equipment, which is far superior to any machine and by using bodyweight bodybuilding you can achieve far better results than any fancy bodybuilding equipment can give to you. Your own bodyweight bodybuilding program can be used to derive benefits that no body building equipment can hope to provide.

To begin with, your bodyweight muscle building program should address achieving a balance that is far superior to what bodybuilding equipment can give since you will be working your muscles much harder on your own as compared with using bodybuilding equipment, where the emphasis is on not crashing the equipment and hurting yourself in the process.

With bodyweight bodybuilding, you will see that your muscles will work in a natural way as compared to the machine-like functioning when using a triceps machine, or some other piece of equipment. While you are on the floor you can perform twists as well as tweak your exercises so that they are well defined, which a body building equipment cannot provide considering that your range of motion will be rather limited.

Also, with bodyweight bodybuilding you will work yourself to exhaustion much faster than a piece of bodybuilding equipment in which you will basically just be plunking your backside on a bench while exercising on your own will mean using your weight as resistance thus requiring more effort from your core muscles.

Also, with bodyweight bodybuilding you do not have to wait in line waiting for the bodybuilding equipment to be free since most popular items of equipment are generally in use by a number of other bodybuilders. In addition, you won’t be able to make excuses about not exercising, which means that there should be nothing stopping you from hitting the floor and beginning your bodyweight bodybuilding program. In addition, you get a much-improved workout and more benefits than a piece of equipment cannot ever match. With bodyweight bodybuilding, you will be using your core muscles more since they are targeted even when they are not in use.

A Review Of The Turbulence Training Course

by S.G.R.B

It is the purpose of this Turbulence Training review to provide you with enough information about Turbulence Training to determine whether this program will suit you in your weight loss and will lean you in your how to build muscle mass goals.

Craig Ballantyne is a certified fitness expert who writes for Men and Women’s health magazines. Endorsed by the Biggest Loser’s Jillian Michaels, he has also developed his Turbulence Training method of 3 days a week, 45 minutes at a time. Caig understands that there are adults who want to stay in shape but cannot dedicate 5-7 days each week to the gym.

The Turbulence Training method is designed as a three times a week workout of 45 minutes for each workout. These workouts are separated into two sets, 25 minutes of strength training and 20 minutes of interval training. That is all you have to do three times a week, as a day routine. The effectivness of this program comes from the fact that it works on all body areas at once, not doing any seperate workouts for different body areas.

To prevent burnout, Craig designed seven different workout routines, which are rotated each month. More than that, the changes in the workout routins make sure your body doesn’t get too comfortable with a certain set of movements and therefore maximizes calories burn. To increase your metabolism you have to change your workouts regularly.

the Turbulence Training method does not reduce itself to calorie counting, only to eating the right way to help you reach your goals. What’s more, there are no cardio workouts either. If you are just plain tired of jumping around trying to lose weight while sweating like a pig, you will love Craig’s attitude towards cardio. To keep it short, he thinks it is useless. His program is designed to give you better results than you would get if you were including a cardio workout.

Craig also has separate workout routines for men and women, recognizing that men and women typically have different goals when it comes to their bodies. He also has a site with pictures and testimonials from people who have used his program so you can see the success that his program has yielded. This program will most defently work for you as there is a free trial as well as bonuses worth over five hundred dollars and access to the members only forums of this program.

Overall, this Turbulence Training review finds that there is a lot of support from people who have used this program. Along with review there are pictures with proof of results and a plethora of support should you decide to give Turbulence Training a try. However, this is designed for weight loss as well as muscle gain, not necessarily for weight training so keep that in mind before you make your purchase.

Exercise And Harm

by S.G.R.B

Anytime you exercise, your brain releases chemicals
known as endorphins that produce a feeling of euphoria,
which is known as “runners high”, which is also very
easy to become chemically addicted to.

Without this rush, you’ll feel irritable and out of
it until you exercise again.  Therefore, you’ll go
on exercising and not listen to what your body is
actually telling you – which is to stop.

The main reason addicts will continue to push themselves
lies in what will happen when they don’t work out.
Normally when they are unable to exercise, they will
display signs of depression, anxiety, confusion,
and be less happy with themselves.

Aches and pains
Over exercising doesn’t only affect the mind, but the
body as well.  Exercise will initially do what it
is intended to do, give you a fit body but once you
cross the line however, it can drastic. Muscle
damage, osteoarthritis, and heart problems will all
be waiting in the wings if you continue to overdo
it.  The body has limits and if you push beyond
that limit, you’ll do nothing but harm yourself.

Obsessive exercise tends to happen among those who
are new to exercise.  Therefore, if you are keen
to reap the benefits of getting fit, you’ll tend
to overstep the limits.

The initial signs of over exercise are exhaustion,
which can lead to a build up of fatigue.  Keep in
mind, it isn’t only the muscles that are at risk,
but the bones as well.  Many people who exercise
push themselves to the point of injuries such as
shin splints or even stress fractures, then refuse
to rest, which causes greater and sometimes even
permanent damage.

Even a brisk walk in the morning doesn’t come
without risk, as walking too much can lead to
osteoarthritis.  When you walk, you are working
against gravity.  Even though you are exercising
your muscles, you are also harming your knee joints
as well.

Many people who walk up to an hour or more everyday
end up with complaints of aches in the knees.  The
fact is, jogging also harms the knees, and too
many sit ups can hurt as well.  As with any type
of exercise, moderation is the key.

You should always start off gradually, and combine
several different types of workouts, which is one
thing that obsessive exercisers forget to do.  One
of the biggest complication factors of people who
get addicted to exercise is that they will tend
to perform the same workout each and every day,
which further increases the risk of permanent damage.

Think right
You should never work out to the point where you
feel completely exhausted once you have finished.
Your limit with exercise should be 45 minutes to an
hour, four or five days a week.  When you are
finished, your workout should leave you feeling
fresh and energetic.  Every week should make it a
point to take a day’s break – as your body will
need to relax and rejuvenate.

The key to achieving this completely lies in your
attitude, as exercising is the way to a healthy
life.  If you do it only to please yourself, you’ll
defeat the entire purpose when you stand there on
the weighing machine.

If you take things one day at a time and don’t
over do it, you’ll be well on your way to a healthy
body.  Exercising can be a lot of fun and a way
to relax, if you don’t rush it.  Start off slow
and gradually work your way up.  Before you know it,
you’ll know how to prevent injuries before they
happen and you’ll know exactly what you need to
do to remain healthy.

Exercise And Sleeping Better

by S.G.R.B

The amount of physical exercise that you exert during
the day is one of the key ingredients to helping you
get a good sleep at night.  The more active your
body is during the day, the more likely you are to
relax at night and fall asleep faster.

With regular exercise you’ll notice that your quality
of sleep is improved and the transition between the
cycles and phases of sleep will become smoother and
more regular.  By keeping up your physical activity
during the day, you may find it easier to deal with
the stress and worries of your life.

Research and studies indicate that there is a direct
correlation between how much we exercise and how
we feel afterwards.

You should try and increase your physical activity
during the day.  The goal here is to give your body
enough stimulation during the day so that you aren’t
full of energy at night.

Your body requires a certain amount of physical
activity in order to keep functioning in a healthy
manner.  It is also important to note that you should
not be exercising three or four hours before you go
to bed.

The ideal exercise time is in the late afternoon or
early evening.  You want to make sure you expend
your physical energy long before it is time for
your body to rest and ready itself for sleep.

You should attempt to exercise at least three or
four times a week for a period of 30 minutes or so.
You can include walking or something simple.  If
you prefer, you can include strenuous activities
such as running as well.

The goal here is to increase your heart rate and
strengthen the capacity of your lungs.  By adding
a regular exercise activity to your daily schedule
will help you to improve your overall health and
help you emotionally as well.

Along with running and walking there are several
other physical activities that you can add to your
daily life to increase your level of physical
activity.  If you are battling not sleeping, you’ll
find aerobic exercise to be the best.

Your goal with exercise is to increase the amount
of oxygen that reaches your blood stream.  Overall,
there are many types of aerobic exercise for you
to choose from.  The activities include running,
biking, using a treadmill, dancing, and jumping
rope.

There are some non aerobic exercises that you may
find beneficial to help you solve your amnesia
problem.

Yoga
Yoga is an exercise that has a stimulatory effect
on your nervous system, especially the brain.  Yoga
utilizes breathing techniques and yoga postures to
increase the blood circulation to the brain, promoting
regular and restful sleeping patterns.  The regular
practice of yoga will help you to relax as well
as relieve tension and stress.

Tai Chi
Tai Chi is an ancient art of breathing and movement
that was developed by the Chinese monks.  The
movements involved are slow and precise, which is
ideal if you have joint pains or you are unable
to participate in high aerobic exercises.  Research
has shown that Tai Chi can help with insomnia by
promoting relaxation.

If you discover that you don’t have any time to
exercise on a regular basis, you should try to
sneak moments of activity into your schedule.
Whenever possible, you should take the stairs instead
of the elevator, as little things like that will
do wonders for your body.

You should also park your car around the corner and
walk that extra block or two to get to your
destination.  As you may know, there are many small
things you can add to increase the activity in
your life.  Your overall goal here is to have a
healthy and well balanced life – with plenty of
sleep.

Buying An All In One System

by S.G.R.B

These days, more and more people are turning away
from memberships to gyms and instead choosing to
invest money in a home gym.  You can put a home
gym in a spare corner of your home, or even in the
basement if you wish.  Along with helping you save
money by combining several different types of
equipment into one machine, these types of equipment
can easily fit in small spaces and type up a lot
less weight than their individual counterparts.

When you are considering to buy an all in one piece
of exercise equipment, you should first think
about your goals.  You should consider what you
hope to achieve from exercising and just how well
this piece of equipment will benefit you.

There are several types of all in one equipment for
exercise on the market and almost all of them are
advertised well on television, in magazines, and
on the internet.  The most popular types on the
market are those types that are geared towards
individuals who are interested in lifting weights.

Right now, the two most popular types of all in
one exercise systems are the Bowflex and Total Gym
brands.  The Bowflex system uses resistant bows
that bend instead of the traditional weights that
simply lift.  Bowflex is designed to fit a wide
variety of budgets and needs, it’s widely
adaptable and extremely popular as well.

To make things even better, you can store the
basic Bowflex system in small and tight places,
even under a bed if you choose.  The larger and
more expensive Blowflex system competes with
the types of professional equipment that you can
find in gyms, which allow you a quality workout
on quality equipment.

The Total Gym system is great as well, as it
is advertised by martial arts legend Chuck Norris
and supermodel Christie Brinkley.  It is less
expensive than the Bowflex and uses gravity
and resistance instead of traditional weights.
By using this system, you have the ability to
adapt the machine to a wide variety of exercises
that will work many different areas of your body.

When you make that decision about buying an all
in one exercise system, you must also decide
on price, features, brand, and just who will use
the machine.  If your family plans to use it as
well, then you’ll need to get a system that
everyone will agree on.  You obviously wouldn’t
want a machine that is too complicated for
others in your home.

Even though Bowflex and Total Gym are the 2 most
popular types of all in one equipment, there are
several others out there as will, from brands
such as Weider and many others.  Before you
make your choice, you should look at several
to see which one offers you more for your money.

Eating And Exercise

by S.G.R.B

Anytime you exercise, you do so in order to try and
maintain good health. You also know that you have to
eat as well, so your body will have the energy it
needs to exercise and maintain for the everyday tasks
of life.  For making the best of your exercise, what
you eat before and after you workout is very important.

No matter if you are going to be doing a cardio
workout or a resistance workout, you should always
make it a point to eat a balanced mix of protein and
carbohydrates.  What makes that determining percentage
of carbs and protein you consume is whether or not
you are doing cardio or resistance exercise and the
intensity level that you plan to work at.

The ideal time for you to eat your pre workout meal
is an hour before you start.  If you plan to work
at a low intensity level, you should keep your pre
workout meal down to 200 calories or so.  If you
plan to exercise at a high level of intensity, you
will probably need your meal to be between 4,000
and 5,000 calories.

Those of you who are doing a cardio session will
need to consume a mix of 2/3 carbs and 1/3 protein.
Doing so will give you longer sustained energy from
the extra carbs with enough protein to keep your
muscle from breaking down while you exercise.

For resistance exercise, you’ll need to eat a mix
of 1/3 carbs and 2/3 protein, as this will help
you get plenty of energy from the carbs to perform
each set you do and the extra protein will help
keep muscle breakdown to a minimum while you
exercise.

Eating after you exercise is just as important as
your pre workout meal.  Anytime you exercise,
whether its cardio or resistance, you deplete energy
in the form of glycogen.  The brain and central
nervous system rely on glycogen as their main
source of fuel, so if you don’t replace it after
you exercise, your body will begin to break down
muscle tissue into amino acids, and then convert
them into usable fuel for the brain and the
central nervous system.

Keep in mind that mostly during resistance
exercise, you’ll break down muscle tissue by
creating micro tears.  What this means, is that
after a workout, your muscles will instantly go
into repair mode.  Protein is the key here for
muscle repair, as you don’t want muscle breaking
down even further to create fuel instead of
lost glycogen.

Once you have finished a cardio session, you’ll
need to consume mainly carbohydrates, preferably
those with high fiber.  Rice, oatmeal, whole wheat
pasta, and northern fruits are excellent sources.
Also, try to consume 30 – 50 grams of there
types of carbs after you exercise.  After your
cardio workout, it is fine to eat within 5 – 10
minutes.

Once you’ve finished a resistance workout, you
will need to consume a combination of carbs and
protein.  Unlike cardio workouts, resistance
workouts will break down muscle tissue by creating
micro tears.

You’ll need protein as this happens to build up
and repair these tears so that the muscle can
increase in size and strength.  The carbs will
not only replace the lost muscle glycogen, but
will also help the protein get into muscle cells
so it can synthesize into structural protein, or
the muscle itself.

After your resistance exercise, you should wait
up to 30 minutes before you eat, so that you won’t
take blood away from your muscles too fast.  The
blood in your muscles will help the repair process
by removing the metabolic waste products.
